Kaishi is the paper you tuck into your kimono before a tea gathering. It holds the sweet, wipes the bowl, receives a brushed note. One hundred uses, one quiet stack of sheets.

This kaishi is made by Morita Washi in Kyoto. The paper is soft and slightly luminous, washi fibers catch light in a way that plain paper never does. Unprinted, unbleached, utterly functional and completely beautiful.

Outside the tea room it works just as well. Use it for ink practice, sumi-e, calligraphy, layered collage, gift presentation, or simply as writing paper that feels worth writing on.
