Kyoto Hanagami - Traditional Japanese Tissue Paper from Kyukyodo

Kyukyodo has been on Teramachi Street in Kyoto since 1663. This tissue paper, called Hanagami, comes from their shop and carries that history in every sheet.
Hanagami is one of Japan’s oldest everyday objects. Softer and more refined than regular tissue, it was traditionally used by actors, geisha, and artists to blot, wrap, and handle delicate things. The texture is gentle but holds together. It does not pill or tear easily.

This pack is wrapped in Kyukyodo’s ichimatsu pattern, the classic Japanese checkerboard, with the shop name written in brushstroke calligraphy on the cover. It is beautiful before you even open it.

Hand-carried directly from the historic Kyukyodo boutique in Kyoto, Japan.

Use it as facial tissue, for ink blotting during calligraphy or painting, for wrapping small gifts, pressing flowers, or lining a drawer. It also layers beautifully in collage and paper art.

Single Pack- 100 sheets, original Kyukyodo package.
