This is the base of the Kasen series in pure black form.

Kasen is Kaimei’s highest grade liquid ink. The name 花仙 means “flower immortal” and the box label reads 最高級古墨調液墨 - highest grade, old ink style liquid ink. It is formulated to reproduce the quality of aged solid ink sticks, with the deep, three-dimensional ink color that practitioners of classical ink work spend years trying to achieve through grinding alone.

The brushstroke is smooth. The bleeding is controlled and beautiful. It works for diluted washes as well as dense, opaque lines. Use it alone or combine it with solid ink sticks to adjust tone and texture.
