Japanese Ink Stone - Traditional Suzuri for Sumi Ink Grinding, Kyoto
An ink stone is where the practice begins. Before the brush touches paper, you grind the ink stick slowly against the wet surface of the suzuri, watching the ink develop. It is a quiet ritual that prepares both the material and the person using it.
This ink stone comes in a gold crackle presentation box from Saiun-do, one of Kyoto’s respected art supply houses. The stone itself has a smooth grinding surface and a well for collecting the prepared ink. It is a proper working tool, not decorative.
Compatible with all ink sticks in the Aya Zakkaya shop.
Comes in original gold presentation box.
