Kurotani Washi - Handmade Japanese Letter Paper and Envelopes from Kyoto
This letter paper and these envelopes come from Kurotani, a small village in Kyoto Prefecture where washi has been made the same way for over 800 years. Kurotani washi carries UNESCO intangible cultural heritage recognition and holds history.
The paper is thick, soft, and slightly textured. The deckled edges, the uneven, feathered border on each sheet, are a natural result of the handmaking process, not a decorative choice. Each sheet is a little different. The envelopes are made from the same material, so what you send arrives the way it was meant to.
Sourced from Morita Washi in Kyoto, one of the city’s most respected paper goods houses.
Use it for personal letters, journaling, calligraphy, ink painting, or simply keeping. This is not paper you use every day. It is paper you use when it matters.
Material: Handmade kozo (mulberry) fiber
